The Shaw Conference Centre (SCC) facility is owned by the City of Edmonton and is operated by EEDC to provide economic and social benefits for the community. The SCC is Edmonton’s convention Centre, a historic meeting place where people gather to learn, innovate, trade, and celebrate. We are looking for an energetic individual to join our Stewarding team as Steward Supervisor.

 

Under the direction of the Chief Steward and his/her management team, the Steward Supervisor will assist and lead the Kitchen Steward, Steward and Kitchen Porter in the cleaning and sanitizing of all flatware, glassware, silverware, maintenance of cleaning tools and supplies and stores them in designated area(s).  The Steward Supervisor promotes Shaw Conference Centre to consistently meet and exceed Alberta Health Services ‘Serving Safer Food’ in delivering great customer experience.  The Steward Supervisor will be ready to integrate self into a team environment.

Job Details

The Steward Supervisor’s main responsibilities will include, but not limited to, ensuring the upkeep and preservation of the ware washing room(s), chinaware storage room, cleaning/non-cleaning storage room, and food preparation room(s); ensuring that all the dishwashers and cleaning tools are operating at their optimum potential; ensuring that all service stations, clearing stations and food plating areas are set and ready for their purpose—ensures tables and needed equipment are present; and ensures that all requisitions from the banquet, culinary and other departments are completed and positioned accordingly. The Steward Supervisor is also responsible for providing strong leadership for the steward team members; ensure the team has the necessary resources to meet job satisfaction and service quality; provide positive guidance to team members; and assist other supervisors when required with right direction and expectations from the Chief Steward.

 

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience working in a hotel/convention setting, and a post-secondary degree in Hospitality Management or related program would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will also have excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills; knowledge of health and safety, and food safety, understands MSDS (material Safety Data Sheet); and has working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. This position does require the successful candidate to have a flexible work schedule and able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
