The Shaw Conference Centre, which is owned by the City of Edmonton and managed by Edmonton Economic Development, is a top contributor to the meetings, conventions and special event business in Greater Edmonton, hosting more than 650 events and half million guests each year, who in turn generate $45 million in spending across the province annually.

 

We are currently looking to fill several Bartender positions. As front line staff, the Bartender quickly and effectively serves alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks to clients with professionalism and poise, while ensuring the integrity of the Shaw Conference Centre’s procedures.

Job Details

The Bartender is responsible for serving beverages which includes taking beverage orders from the Wait Staff or directly from the guests; serves alcoholic and/or non-alcoholic beverages from the bar stations, butler service to individual tables or reception environment; and mixes ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks. Other job responsibilities include but not limited to setting up and take down of the bar units; loading bar units with beverages and mixes; cleaning glassware, utensils, and bar equipment; reporting damaged equipment to supervisors; and checking proof of age. Bartender’s are expected to provide exceptional customer service, and actively participate in the Shaw Conference Centre’s Health and Safety program.

 

The successful candidate would have prior bartender experience, superior customer service skills, and their ProServe certification and other knowledge of Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission rules and regulations. Additional courses such as First Aid training, wine tasting, and mixology, etc. would also be considered an asset. The Bartender will also be expected to stand and walk for extended periods of time, may work in noisy and dark environments, and expected to lift cases of product and move loaded carts.
